Marbled Paper - Payhembury
A collection of traditional hand marbled papers, made in Scotland by Kate Brett of Payhembury Marbled Papers. Through several centuries, people have been using marbled papers as part of art and craft projects. With care and skill patterns are matched but part of their charm is that each print is absolutely unique. Since 1982 Payhembury Marbled Papers has specialised in trying to reproduce some of the old marbled paper patterns in the traditional manner, floating water-based paints on a size made from carragheen moss which is then carefully transferred to an absorbent surface of paper. Traditional papers were often highly polished with beeswax and an application of 50% beeswax / 50% white spirit on the papers before use is recommended (although not essential). This enhances the colour as well making them more durable.
